Shire Horse Society visits CEC!
On Monday 27 January, Cannington Equestrian Centre shared the use of their facilities to the Shire Horse Society as they required a safe indoor arena for Stallion Grading.
4 shires were assessed on 6 categories; Size, Colour, Feet, Limbs, general conformation and Action.
After a lesson on what to look for by one of the organisers, the students had a go at being judges and compared their score to that of the official judges mark.
Sienna one of our students said “This was really interesting, we were so lucky to see such pretty animals, I was not aware what went into maintaining the key features of the breed”.
The Shire Horse Society was established in 1878 and is the only charity dedicated to the protection, promotion and improvement of the shire horse.
We would like to thank them for giving us the opportunity to learn and to share our fantastic facilities with them.
